Rafa Hails 'Almost Perfect' Reds

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has heaped praise upon his players following their comfortable Champions League victory over PSV Eindhoven...The Reds romped to a 3-1 home win over the Dutch champions, Dirk Kuyt opening the scoring in the fourth minute before Robbie Keane doubled the lead with his first goal since joining the club in July.
Steven Gerrard sealed the three points in style with a thunderous free-kick right in front of the Kop to mark his 100th strike for the Merseyside giants.
And although the hosts conceded a consolation goal shortly afterwards, Benitez was thrilled with his side's authoritative showing.
"It was almost a perfect night. A clean sheet would have made it better but I am really pleased," he told the club's official website.
"The third goal finished the game and although they got one back, it is normally enough and we knew there was not much time for them to get back into it."
Only Atletico Madrid's slightly superior goal difference keeps Liverpool from the top of Group D, both sides having claimed victories over PSV and Olympique Marseille.
The pair will face off in undoubtedly the most anticipated match-up of the group on October 22, when the five-time European champions travel to the Spanish capital.
And while Atletico and Liverpool are the clear favourites to progress to the knockout rounds, Benitez insisted that every game is vital.
"We have four games to play and we know from experience that it is important to go right to the end," he said.
"We will try to win and if you can get 10 points then you will be in a very good position to qualify.
"We will go to Madrid and look to win. It is very difficult in the Champions League because PSV showed quality and Marseille are difficult away so we know we must keep our focus."
Benitez's attention will shift back to domestic duties this weekend as Liverpool take on rich kids Manchester City at Eastlands.
