Atletico Warning To City Over Aguero

Atletico Madrid have told Manchester City that Sergio Aguero will not be leaving, whatever record breaking offer is made.Everybody knows that Manchester City are going to have huge amounts of cash to spend in the January transfer window. Atletico Madrid are not interested in being paid any of it though, even if the fee offered for their Argentine star striker is a British record. City splashed out £32.5 million on Robinho on August's transfer deadline day, and any deal they might make for the twenty year old Aguero would dwarf that figure. But Atleti are determined to cling onto a player who has made hugely positive impression on La Liga since moving from Independiente in 2006. The Madrid club's manager Javier Aguirre has reacted bullishly to the rumours linking Aguero with a move to Manchester. "Yes, I can give you a message,” said Aguirre. "I know he is very happy at Atletico and he is still a very young player. “For those reasons he will be staying with us for many years irrespective of how much money is on offer." Such statements do not tend to mean much in football these days though, and it would seem that City's cash will be the deciding factor in a transfer saga that is just beginning.
