Real Madrid's latest signing was presented at the Bernabeu this afternoon and cannot wait to get started...Real Madrid have unveiled their latest signing, French midfielder Lassana Diarrá at the Bernabeu today.
After passing his medical and signing his contract, Diarrá was presented in the company of club president Ramón Calderón. Interestingly, his shirt will carry the name 'Lass' - which is a common nickname for Lassana in France - to avoid confusion with Mahamadou Diarrá (who is of no relation to the new signing). No number was allocated on the back of the shirt.
Speaking to the media for the first time in Madrid, Diarrá said, "It is honour to play for Real Madrid. I expect to give great performances on the pitch, and play to my maximum level. I have been very well received here, and I will soon adapt to the team and the language."
Meanwhile, Calderón described him as "a young player with a great future, who will be with us for many years".
The Madrid president then officially welcomed the player to the club, and congratulated him on the latest step in his career.
Diarrá may not have played for a club of Real Madrid's stature before, but he has significant big game experience, having played for France in EURO 2008.
