Milan Look To Roberto Donadoni To Replace Carlo Ancelotti
The reign of Carlo Ancelotti at San Siro could come to an end next summer and former Italy boss Donadoni has become one of the favourites to take over.
After more than seven years at the helm, Carlo Ancelotti could be shown the door if Milan once again miss out on the Scudetto.
The Diavoli are currently in third place in Serie A but trail leaders Inter by eight points. Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina could be the key to Milan’s whole season as anything less than a victory in the fixture against their greatest rivals will severely dent their title ambitions.
Ancelotti, meanwhile, has been tipped to relocate to Premier League side Chelsea, who have just sacked manager Luiz Felipe Scolari and hired Guus Hiddink on a short-term basis. The Italian media speculate that the ex-Parma and Juventus tactician is the prime candidate to take charge at Stamford Bridge next summer.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are already drawing up a list of potential replacements. The latest name to enter the frame is that of another former player: Roberto Donadoni.
The 45-year-old has been out of a coaching job since being dismissed as Italy national side trainer last summer and is now working as a pundit on Sky Italia.
Other reports have also suggested that Leonardo could leave his role as technical director of the club to take Ancelotti’s place.
