Drogba To Be Eased Back To Full Fitness

Ahead of Chelsea's Champions League clash with Bordeaux Didier Drogba has told journalists that his first priority is to return to full fitness, and then to win the tournament... Chelsea's powerful Ivorian striker Didier Drogba, 30, has been sidelined since the Champions League final in Moscow last season due to a long recovery process from a knee operation sanctioned before pre-season. Midway through his rehabilitation, in August, there were fears that Drogba would not be match fit until October, but they were short-lived as he featured for Chelsea reserves during international week, and came off the bench during the Stamford Bridge's side convincing 3-1 win over Manchester City away from home. Ahead of the visit of Bordeaux in the opening round of group matches in the Champions League, Drogba told the Daily Mail that his first priority is to fully recover from his injury, and then go on to claim the trophy this season. "My over-riding priority is to play without pain in my knee," he said. "All I would say is that I don't want to get ahead of myself and do too much too soon. However, I'm certain that Chelsea are growing in power and we'll do everything we possibly can to win the Champions League this season."
