Juventus And Inter Keep A Close Eye On Xavi

Spanish midfield maestro Xavi Hernandez is reportedly looking for new employment in Italy after turning down a contract at current club Barca.being linked to a move to Italy's Serie A following a contract dispute at the Camp Nou. Reports suggest that he was unhappy with the amount offered to him in a new contract and is looking elsewhere in an effort to better his wage packet. The Spanish international midfielder has always had many admirers among Italian clubs, with Juventus and Inter Milan in particular showing interest in his services. The player grew up in Barca's youth ranks and has always been very close to the club, but perhaps he is looking for a new challenge outside of Spain. Xavi turned down a new deal at the Catalan club, and with the 28-year-old's current contract expiring in 2010 the club were hoping to extend his stay until 2013. This has opened the floor to potential bidders, but it is unlikely that the Spaniards will let one of their prized midfield pieces leave without a fight. It is believed that Xavi may decide to stay in La Liga if the Blaugrana are willing to add an extra year to the original contract and offer a substantial increase in his salary. Serie A big boys Juve and Inter are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation, but the news has awoken Premier League outfits Arsenal and Liverpool, two bidders that will be equally determined to land his signature should he decide to depart from Spain.
