'Dinho Needs To Escape Milan

After leaving Barcelona in the summer with his reputation still intact, Ronaldinho's star quality is fading fast in Serie A as he now plays second fiddle to David Beckham.Ronaldinho is suffering at AC Milan, taking every opportunity to return to Barcelona for a night out and to forget about his performances since moving to Serie A, according to a report in Catalan daily Sport. The Brazilian's form this season for the Rossoneri has meant that last weekend he found himself glued to the bench by coach Carlo Ancelotti as young Matteo Darmian was the third substitute used against Lazio. This is a perfect example of just how far Ronaldinho’s star has dropped at Milan and his status has now almost been completely eclipsed since the arrival of David Beckham. If the former Ballon 'dOr and FIFA World Player of the Year thought that he had a difficult season last term with Barcelona, he could be in for a real shock as the next sixth months at the San Siro could be even worse. Having not completely settled in Italy, Ronaldinho makes frequent trips back to his old hunting grounds in the Catalan capital, Sport report, to ‘escape’. After starting in the team that saw Beckham make his debut, the former PSG star has played 12 minutes against Fiorentina, 17 against Bologna and 15 against Genoa, while not appearing at all against Lazio. What Ronaldinho's next step could be is unknown, but if Frank Rijkaard takes the reins at the club in the summer then he could potentially inspire a new found confidence in the player. Otherwise, it could be that the player that almost single-handedly lifted FC Barcelona out of relative obscurity six seasons ago is told to look for a new club next term and only Espanyol would be willing to have him in his favourite Catalan city.
