Chelsea Refuse To Rule Out Carlo Ancelotti Approach
Whether purposely or not, Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has added fuel to the rumours linking AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti to the club by missing an opportunity to rule out the possibility of the Italian taking over in the summer.
Guus Hiddink is currently the man at Stamford Bridge, but he always goes to great lengths to remind people that his tenure in the English capital is just a temporary one, as he is committed to taking Russia to the World Cup.
Although many believe that the Dutch football mastermind will eventually be swayed, the likes of Frank Rijkaard and Roberto Mancini have been touted as alternatives, with Ancelotti a name that keeps cropping up as well.
When pressed on whether the Milan coach really is a viable option, Kenyon said, "I don't want to comment. We are concentrating on Guus being with us until the end of the season.
"He's continuing to progress and win us games so we are all very delighted."
Kenyon, speaking at a press-conference in New York to announce a pre-season tournament in the United States this July which will also feature AC Milan, Inter, and Mexico's Club America, went on to stress that there has been no push to extend Hiddink's stay at the Bridge.
"The whole agreement was for a short-term, interim period and that is how it remains," he added.
Ancelotti has done his part to stoke the rumour mill as well by addressing speculation linking him to Real Madrid with a vague statement about anything being possible as he will not remain in charge of Milan forever.
